Jaylen Hunter Focused on Three

Syracuse is looking to bolster its talent and depth up front on the offensive line in their 2013 class. One of the prospects they've identified is Arizona Western product Jaylen Hunter. He discussed the latest, including his three favorites, with CuseNation.com.

Offensive line has been a big focus for the Syracuse staff recently. The Orange are targeting January 18th for an official visit weekend which will include several JUCO prospects, including some offensive linemen. One of those players is Arizona Western product Jaylen Hunter.

"My recruitment has been going pretty nicely," Hunter said. "I'm heading out to a visit tomorrow to Marshall. In January I'll be going to Syracuse. I have a bunch of offers right now including Syracuse and Marshall. Those two are coming at me the hardest. They're coming at me really hard right now.

"Syracuse, Marshall, and South Florida are my favorites as of right now. I'm going to take an official to USF soon. They don't know the time yet. They are trying to set it up but I don't know when I'm free."

Syracuse and Marshall continue to recruit Hunter very hard. Both envision him as someone who can make a big impact right away. One of the reasons they are so attractive is that playing time is available at both places.

"From Syracuse, Greg Adkins is recruiting me," Hunter explained. "He's been pretty much saying that I have a chance to start. He coaches really great. He told me I'm definitely a tackle for them. All of the schools I talk to are recruiting me as a tackle actually. They have a tackle that's a junior that is probably going to the draft. They have two seniors leaving next semester too. They have a good chance for me to start."

"Marshall has been telling me they really want me to come in and start if I decide to go there. Most of their players are leaving. Most of their tackles are seniors."

During the recruiting process, Hunter has developed a strong relationship with Greg Adkins and Marshall offensive line coach Geep Wade. Those relationships could be a big factor in Hunter's final decision.

"Me and coach Adkins have a really good relationship," the Arizona Western product declared. "We've been talking. He came to visit last week and came to visit this week also. Just to come say and see how things are going. He wanted to come see me and talk.

"At Marshall, coach Wade, who used to work with coach Adkins, is recruiting me. Both are pretty close to me right now. They're working on me the hardest."

One of Hunter's teammates, fellow offensive lineman Dionte Hunter, is also visiting Syracuse on January 18th. The two have discussed the possibility of playing together in upstate New York.

"Yeah me and Savage are visiting together," Hunter admitted. "We both like Syracuse a lot. We both might go there. That's one of our big things is being able to play together. He said, he wants to go somewhere where it's someplace he knows. So he wants me to go to school with him. That was one thing we've talked about."

The final decision is an important one for the 6-foot-4 tackle. He will take his time until he gets the right feeling. But the talented prospect knows what he's looking for in a potential landing spot.

"Really important things to me are feeling like home," Hunter expressed. "Somewhere comfortable where the coaches and the players have a great relationship. Somewhere where I have a really good chance to start. Pretty much how close the team is."
