Etiwanda (Calif.) five-star point guard Jordan McLaughlin traveled down I-15 to watch San Diego State battle against UNLV on Wednesday night.

"It went good," McLaughlin explained. "It wasn't my first time to a game but the atmosphere was ridiculous. The fans created their name ‘The Show' for a reason because that's what they are. The style of play is good for me and the coaching staff is good. Nothing but positives right now."

Did the trip open his eyes to anything new?

"Not really just made my relationship with the coaches and the players better," McLaughlin answered.

One thing that stood out to one of the best scoring threats in the nation was the shoe game of the Aztecs.

"I like to play in Nike/Jordan and all the new sneakers," McLaughlin laughed. "SDSU has one of the best shoe games in college basketball."

The 20th ranked prospect in 2014 has already made his rounds on the West Coast by also visiting UCLA, USC and Arizona.

McLaughlin thinks Viejas Arena has the best atmosphere between the four schools. He then said Arizona and UCLA were tied for second and the Galen Center came in last.

"All great schools and great history of basketball," McLaughlin added.

The large news on Wednesday was when San Diego State announced that the school will stay in the Mountain West instead of heading to the Big East for football and Big West for basketball.

It's already making a positive impact in basketball recruiting.

"I think the Mountain West is very strong and challenging conference for SDSU," McLaughlin said. "You will be going against some of the best teams in the nation. While in the Big West, no offense to the Big West, but they have a few good teams. I feel SDSU would take advantage of that league." Recommended Stories
