San Diego State had six official visitors on campus this weekend with National Signing Day only 16 days away.

The recruiting weekend turned into a pair of secondary commits from Los Angeles.

The Aztecs not only landed Compton (Calif.) Dominguez three-star cornerback Kalan Montgomery during the visit but also his teammate two-star safety Malik Smith.

"It was good," Smith said of his official visit to SDSU. "I really enjoyed my time down there. I liked the Aztec team. I just felt real comfortable down there."

"I felt so comfortable when I got around all the players. I liked the school and campus when we went on the tour. I felt like I fit in so I was just really comfortable."

Once Montgomery pledged to San Diego State on Saturday, Smith thought hard if he too should join his high school teammate.

"After he [Montgomery] committed we had a long talk about it in our hotel room," Smith said. "He was telling me to go ahead and commit. I had it in the back of my mind already that I was going to do it."

"I called my coach, asked if it was ok for me to commit and he said yes. Then I called my cousin who is like a brother to me and he said whatever makes me happy. So I committed."

SDSU's coaching staff couldn't have expressed more joy to land their 21st recruit of the class.

"Coach [Tony] White seemed to be very happy," Smith described the scene when he committed. "He gave me a big hug and told me he's extremely happy with my decision."

"He told me once we got into the defensive meeting that I could tell coach [Rocky] Long and I was nervous because coach Long is the head coach. He has that look that makes you kind of nervous."

During the meeting the talented prospect expressed he can offer more to this team if needed. Cornerbacks coach Tony White recruited Smith as a strong safety.

"I told them I can play corner as well because I know they need help there," Smith explained. "Coaches told me wherever I fit in at is where they'll put me so I can make plays for them."

"I'm going to be able to bring them some defensive intensity, more man power and hopefully I can make it that my presence will make this team successful."

So what can San Diego State fans expect from the Dominguez Duo?

"I feel like we [Smith and Montgomery] are a one-two punch," Smith said. "If you put us on the same side of the field, you won't have to worry about the right side of the field the whole game. I have that much confidence in Kalan and he has that confidence in me."

The Aztecs recruiting class jumps up to 59th overall after the pair of commitments.
