On Monday Saint Francis (MO) Francis Howell middle linebacker Calvin Munson chose San Diego State over Ohio and Toledo after visiting Montezuma Mesa over the weekend.

"I enjoyed the visit," Munson said. "I loved the campus, the coaches were awesome, and all of the players I was around were good dudes. The thing I really liked about them was the defense that they ran. It matches our high school defense. It was just the perfect fit."

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Midwest prospect was hosted by starting linebacker Nick Tenhaeff.

"He was awesome and really cool," Munson explained his visit. "The campus was awesome. I really liked the weather that was pretty sweet and was a huge plus. What really sold me was the defense. That was just an automatic match which I really liked."

Munson will play middle linebacker for the Aztecs 3-3-5 defense.

"Words cant describe how pumped I am," Munson described. "The opportunity to go down there was awesome then when they offered me was even more awesome. Being the leader of a team like that, defense like that, can't wait it's going to be awesome."

SDSU's defensive line coach Osia lewis was the lead recruiter for the under the radar player who had 193 tackles this season.

"I'm just so blessed with the opportunity to go out there and playing football is even better," Munson said. "I'm going to maximize that to the best I can. One of my goals is to be a captain for them, captain of their defense as a middle linebacker. Plan to have an awesome career."

Munson also had six offensive touchdowns as the Wildcat quarterback for his high school squad.
